I am planning to buy a digital camera, my budget is limited to Rs. 15000 / - . Which one is best to buy ?

Go for OLYMPUS or CANON

Answer by chinni on 02 Jan 2010 07:27:39

A panoramic camera is a specialized piece of equipment that is really only used to take extremely wide shots. A good example is the old Widelux. I don't know of any true panoramic cameras that are Digital -- you would need a sensor that was 3 to 5 inches wide.

As far as editing, your best bet is to use your computer. Trying to edit a photograph with a camera is tedious and you will never be able to do a good a job as you can with a good editing program like Photoshop.

As for the best Digital Camera below $15,000. Well, with the exception of Hasselblad, all of them are below $15,000.

Buying a camera is personal. You need to know what features you like and what functions you want. It is like buying a new pair of shoes ;) As another reader answered, you can't go wrong with any of the top name brands such as Nikon, Canon or Olympus.

Go to [URL Truncated] or other Digital photography websites to compare different camera's and their features and functionalities then decide.

I hope this helps, good luck.

What the heck is Rs.??? probably a currency of some third world country.

After spending 10 minutes on researching finding out what Rs. is, I feel you should ask such questions in:

[URL Truncated] (YAHOO ANSWERS INDIA) and NOT on answers.yahoo.com (which is for the US)

Samsung SL620 12.2 MP Digital Camera with 5x Dual Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0 inch LCD - $139

I would suggest you even consider this one
Nikon Coolpix S630
12.0-megapixel resolution for photo-quality prints up to 16 x 20 inches
7x optical Zoom-Nikkor (37-260mm) glass lens; 4-way VR image stabilization
2.7-inch high-resolution LCD screen; Scene Auto Selector
Nikon's Smart Portrait System; Red-eye Fix, Face Priority AE and more

Without a doubt either one will give you very good image quality. But for the same price as the 620 you can buy on line at Buydig $159+shipping the Fuji S1500. The Fuji will let you adjust shutter speed or aperture which can be a big help in shooting photos. I guess I'm just spoiled. I would not buy any point and shoot without it having aperture/shutter priority. Nor would I buy any camera without a viewfinder. The Fuji is 12X optical zoom, 10 megapixels.
A good Website to view cameras is dpreview.com go to left side of page to camera database.
PS you won't see any difference between 10 and 12 megapixels.

I can't understand why anyone would buy a camera without a view finder. I wouldn't even consider these two.

How do you find out how many images have been taken on a Canon 30D?

I am talking about the total shot count of the body, and not the picture count from a CF card. Also, what is the usual life of the body, in terms of shot count.

I need to know, because I think mine has reached it's limit and needs a tune-up.

Thanks!

Do you mean the file numbering count? Did you get an error message on your screen? If so what is it?

Check out page 29 and then page 70 of your user's manual to see if this is what you are looking for. If you don't have then manual, click on this link for a PDF version of your camera's manual.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

Modern DSLRs don't usually need a "tune-up." Your shutter should be rated for about 50,000 cycles but, there's no set "limit." I've seen 30Ds in service with far more than 50,000 cycles on their shutters. The only tool I know of that might give you a shutter count is a Windows app called EOSInfo ([URL Truncated] which was originally written for the later 40D. I've never tried the utility on anything but my 40D so I don't know if it supports the 30D.

If the utility above doesn't work, you will need to send the camera to Canon to get an actual shutter count. For what it's worth, it is possible your shutter has failed if it has more than 50,000 cycles on it. Replacement again requires a trip to Canon. Last I heard, a shutter replacement for an out of warranty 30D costs $300-$350 with parts and labor (the shutter itself only costs about $40). It's worth noting you can probably buy a low shutter count 30D for about the same price.

My Camera (or memory card) keeps deleting my pictures out of nowhere. What's The Problem?

I got a new Kodak M340 Camera On Dec 12. I Dropped It On The Floor & Ever Since Then It Deletes Pictures Out Of Nowhere. On My Comp. It Says There Is 1GB Used. But It Doesnt Show Any Pictures. I Dont Know If Its The Camera Or The Memory Card Which Is SanDisk 2GB!

Best Answer

I have never heard of that problem before, but it is adding to my strong dislike of Kodak cameras.

I have no idea if this will help, but I would start by formatting the card in the camera. That is something you should do on a regular basis, anyway.
I'd also try out a different card to try and isolate the problem.

Good luck with it.

How do I post a picture on Ebay using a Kodak camera with Easyshare software?

I am used to using a Sony Mavica, and all I had to do was put the floppy disc in with the pictures on it, and Ebay did all the rest. Now, even though Kodak advertises it to be easy, I cannot seem to get the pictures where Ebay will retreive them even after dragging them into the "tray". Thanks for your help!
If I don't use the Easyshare software program, how do I store my pictures?

Ugh..... Kodak :-(
I couldn't possibly be bothered to struggle with their software, even if I ever did have one of their cameras.

I would just use my card reader to transfer the photos to the computer, then upload them to ebay the standard way.

Answer by selina_555 on 01 Jan 2010 07:36:13

Kodak is the leader in inexpensive cameras.

The easiest way would be to put the memory card into a card reader.

If you insist on using the Easyshare software for photos, then the easiest way is to open both Easyshare and your "my pictures" folder. Put the pics you want in the tray on Easyshare, then click and drag them into the "my pictures" folder. It's that easy, and that is how i do it.

Could you please tell me what i could do with kit lens [18-55 mm] , macro lens [EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6]

You asked this very same question at least twice...... why?

You have a little P&S camera, so what can you do with two SLR lenses? You could sell them, or use them as paper weights or as very bad frisbees. You won't be able to use them on your little camera.

Which Camera is the best - Nikon Coolpix S630 or Canon SX200IS? Does Nikon Coolpix S630 have wide angle mode?

Best Answer

I would recommend you to go with Canon PowerShot SX200IS it will give you a better quality picture and also a HD video recording
12.1-megapixel CCD captures enough detail for photo-quality poster-size prints
12x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer; 28mm wide-angle lens
HD movie shooting capability plus HDMI output

Nikon Coolpix S630 supports 7x optical Zoom-Nikkor (37-260mm) glass lens.

Answer by niks on 01 Jan 2010 08:50:27

Nikon Coolpix S630

Answer by Elin Sing on 01 Jan 2010 08:54:23

Nikon Coolpix S630 : 12MP, 7x optical Zoom, 2.7-inch high-resolution LCD screen, 4-Way VR Image Stabilization, Scene Auto Selector, Nikon's Smart Portrait System (Red-Eye Fix, Enhanced Face-Priority AF, Smile Mode automatically, NEW Blink Proof enables), etc.
[URL Truncated]

Canon PowerShot SX200IS : 12 MP, 12x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom, 3.0-inch LCD, HD movie shooting capability, Blink Detection, Face Detection, Intelligent Contrast Correction, Red-eye Correction, etc.
[URL Truncated]

The result compare Canon PowerShot SX200IS is better because have more Optical Zoom (12x), and more LCD screen (3 inch) and PowerShot SX200IS has feature HD movie shooting capability but PowerShot SX200IS is expensive than Nikon Coolpix S630.

Answer by Robert M on 01 Jan 2010 07:10:00

Both are excellent cameras and brands but if the wide angle is of key interest then the Canon SX200IS has more wide angle than the Nikon Coolpix S630. The Canon goes to 28mm where as the Nikon only goes to 37mm.

Below I listed some links, the first one is to a web page that has a side by side listing of the 2 cameras and it will be good to use to compare features and specs. Also, I added some photo dealer websites, and 2 of them, B&H Photo and Adorama has customer reviews of many items which may help.

Hope this helps.

Mark
