Yes, it will work. With something like the 18-55 IS kit lens, this would be plenty. If you are talking about a 100-400 L, it may not be enough to keep it steady.
Answer by Caoedhen on 15 Jan 2010 07:42:53a steadicam is for video work to allow the camera operator to walk with his camera while shooting. a steadicam is used in conjunction with a normal to wide angle setting. it is not a lens stabilizer for telephoto or time exposure still photography. since you have to hold the camera away from your body, you cannot use the eyepiece viewer either, so you should stick with autofocus.
