No. i've recently purchased a nikon L20 coolpix camera and i love it. The screen is nice and big, and the pics come out crystal clear...it's simple and easy to use! i purchased it for about $95 at best buy, it's definitly the best camera i've ever bought. Hope i helped you out!!!
Answer by Kel on 04 Jan 2010 02:52:24If you want a DSLR then $300 sounds good to me, that is if it is including a lens. If not then you are going to spend $50 to $100 for a short zoom then you possibly very close to the cost of a new DSLR with a lens.

Below I listed links to photo dealers, all but buydig, sell used as well as new. Adorama sells refurbished DSLR cameras also. So shop around, the Nikon D50 is excellent and it has a lens at $300 then that sounds great.

If the camera is complete, with all cables/manuals/battery/charger AND the 18-55 kit lens it came with, and of course in operating condition, then that is not a bad deal.
If any parts, including the lens, are missing, or the camera has any issues other than cosmetic on the exterior, then it is not worth getting.
The D50 was not a bad camera in it's day, replaced by the D40. It was Nikon's first real attempt at dumbing down the camera and feature set to get a lower price. It lacks a backlight for the status screen and the on-board flash controller of the D70 has been removed. It does, however, have an in-body focus motor.
nikon D50 is good
