Can you record videos with Canon EOS 1000D?
for the purposes of this answer, Canon EOS 1000D - Canon XS (for you American's out there)
No, you can't shoot video on the 1000D (or the XSi - 450D)
The only camera in the Rebel series that will shoot video is the 500D (or T1i)
You can also move to the EOS professional series, and then your options are 7d or 5dm2
Below I listed a link that goes to a web page that is a side by side listing of 4 DSLR cameras that also have the ability to do HD video (I think these are the most affordable DSLRs that can do it?).
This page will let you compare features and specs and has links to reviews of each of these DSLR cameras. The reviews include image samples. If you search the web (youtube and vimeo) you can find video samples from these cameras to view.
